Westcon Group has appointed Tony Heywood to leads it new datacentre practice in Australia. He replaces Neville James, who has resigned to spend time with his family.
James recently joined Westcon in June.
Heywood previously worked for the distributor when it was known as LAN Systems.
“He has unparalleled industry knowledge as result of working for service providers, distributors and systems integrators across many technology areas,” Westcon managing director, Leigh Howard, said.
“He is innovative and passionate about everything he does. He commands a lot of respect in the industry and is exactly the right person to evolve our data centre strategy to more mature solutions offering which will meet the demands that our channel partners are increasingly making of us.”
“I have learned a significant amount about the sensitivities of running a reseller and how distribution can significantly add to the profitability of those partners that are focusing on selling solutions to their customers,” Heywood said.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside Leigh and the rest of the team to make this new data centre practice a success and offering Westcon’s partners new solutions they can take to market.”
Klikon director, David Abouhaidar, was sad to see Heywood depart, but wished him all the best in his new role. Abouhaidar is on the hunt for a new general manager of sales. In the meantime, he’ll resume the responsibilities associated with the position.
