Express Data has unveiled a Data Centre Ready initiative for its partner base.
The aim of the six-month initiative involves a series of seminars, events and forums focused on the datacentre.
The distributor aims to identify, recruit, communicate and enable partners to sell or deploy multi-vendor datacentre solutions, Express Data general manager of vendors, David Peach, said.
“We’re looking to enable the right partners,” Peach said. “We’re not broadly going out to every partner we’ve got, we’re doing this in a much more targeted way. We don’t want to spend time with the wrong partners or ones that aren’t ready to make the transition.”
As part of the initiative, Express Data has set up an online portal where partners can access training, sales and technical certifications, industry perspective, knowledge centre, and promotions and events. Peach said there were two segments it was targeting in its partner base.
“Partners are building their own datacentres out and whether or not they’re selling it to their end users or deploying their own infrastructure, that’s a big part of the target for this initiative,” he said.
The datacentre was a complicated topic, according to peach, and there was strong interest from resellers and integrators.
“We do believe this is a time of transition in the market and it’s important to put our focus round the datacentre,” he said. “It’s a really important time to make sure we’re having that discussion with them. Partners are making choices about what technology, which vendors they’re going to bet on and what skills they need to put in their business to take advantage of this.”
According to analyst firm, Ovum, IT budgets are growing up to five per cent and data is growing by up to 60 per cent per annum.
“There’s a gap there that needs to be filled in some way,” Peach said.
