Systems integrator ASI Solutions has been recruited to fit out two state-of-the-art training laboratories with 32 PCs donated by AMD for the Technology School of the Future in Adelaide.
The Technology School is used as a training centre for teachers of the South Australian Department of Education, Training and Employment. ASI will build the systems based on 15 AMD Duron and 17 AMD Athlon processors.
The facility, which includes the AMD Curriculum Lab and the AMD Showcase Lab, will be used to provide hands-on teacher training in the use of computers in schools. The centre will be used to train and teachers the full IT curriculum and allow teachers and students to gain computing experience at an advanced level, according to AMD.
The donation marks the beginning of AMD's altruistic 12-month plan to upgrade the majority of computers across the centre powered by AMD processors. AMD also plans to instigate a series of customised technical training and accreditation programs for both students and teaching staff and develop an annual student award scheme for the centre.
"The vision of South Australian Education to provide the South Australian community with The Technology School of the Future facility is to be applauded. "We are looking forward to supporting the future direction of the school," said Lowe, managing director of ASI Solutions.
