A poor track record in service has prompted printer vendor QMS to appoint a new maintenance provider for its channel partners and end users.
QMS general manager Greg Newham said the new provider, Tech-Precision, is well equipped to support private enterprise and government clients. Tech-Precision has offices in every capital city around the country.
Resellers are being offered a range of discounted value-added services which include installation packages and maintenance plans. QMS and Tech- Precision have also established a help desk to provide first-line support for resellers.
Two years ago, QMS decided to shift from a combined channel/direct sales strategy to 100 per cent of sales through the channel. In addition, since appointing Computer Hardware of Australia (CHA) as its national distributor, following Mitsui's exit from the market, the printer vendor's sales have more than doubled. Newham said "CHA has picked up the ball and is running extremely well with it."
All QMS resellers are now required to go through an authorisation program, which includes sales and support training.
QMS currently has 40 authorised resellers, and about six quality centres.
