Hallmark of success

Hallmark of success

Hallmark Computer started in Melbourne in 1992 with an emphasis on Novell NetWare. It grew quickly, adding ViewMaster monitors to its portfolio and by the end of 1995, it was an authorised distributor of Samsung, Honeywell, Microsoft, SVEC, Creative Labs, GigaByte, Panasonic, Dynalink, Canon and Dual notebooks. It also gained ISO9002 certification.

By this time Hallmark had 57 staff in Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory. After winning magazine awards for its build-to-order high-quality clones, the company picked up Genuine Intel Distributor status towards the end of 1996, and added Artec scanners and Hayes modems to its product mix. By early 1997, it was time to venture into the cut-throat Sydney market, and Hallmark has been building its reseller base ever since. The company hopes to open offices in Perth and Brisbane by the end of 1998.

One-stop sourcing. Hallmark aims to be a one-stop source for all your requirements in computing products, whether it is computer parts, systems, peripherals, software or networking.

Its ViewMaster brand of computer systems has proven that quality need not be expensive. These computer systems are available in standard, custom-built and OEM models. Every ViewMaster computer system is assembled using high-quality components from suppliers who meet stringent quality assurance criteria. All systems built are required to undergo stringent quality checks and burn-in tests before they are dispatched.

Components and peripherals. Hallmark stocks and distributes a comprehensive range of high-quality components and peripherals of reputed brands. From a wide selection of high-performance monitors, printers, hard disk drives, cases, main boards, CPU and memory to a host of multimedia kits, modems, networking products and Microsoft software.

Hallmark is a distributor for internationally reputed brands like Canon, Panasonic, NEC, Banksia, Dynalink, Creative Labs, SOLA, Honeywell, SVEC and others. It is also an OEM sub-distributor for Microsoft, IBM and Intel.

Networking products. As sole distributor for SVEC Networks of Taiwan, Hallmark has an extensive range of Ethernet adapters, hubs and switches at very competitive prices. In addition, it also supplies 19in rack cabinets and a wide variety of enclosures for housing custom-built servers. RAID solutions are available as well as CD-ROM servers and UPS units. In fact, SVEC has products designed to move an entire server farm into a tidy rack-mounted solution, including rack-mount keyboards and monitors.

Distribution. Hallmark has an established network of over 600 dealers/resellers and OEMs across Australia, which continues to grow. Hallmark claims to always carry sufficient inventory and can provide most of the products ex-stock. It has its own delivery vans to ensure goods reach resellers safely and on time.

Technical support. Hallmark has a highly experienced and competent technical team to care for customers' technical support requirements. Its technical staff undergo regular training courses, conducted both in-house and externally, to keep abreast with the latest knowledge and to update their skills. Statistical techniques are used to monitor the performance of the products. All products manufactured and distributed by Hallmark are fully backed up by warranty services. The warranty services department is manned by trained staff and is fully equipped with the latest repair facilities and spare parts.

The future. Starting from Melbourne, Hallmark is well on its way to becoming a national company. The use of Internet, e-mail and electronic commerce are either already in place or soon to be implemented.
