Westcon combats global logistics issues with new operation

The distributor sets up the new organisation to address global logistics issues along with customer and vendor demands.

Westcon Group has started a new organisation to overcome logistic woes caused by multinational sales.

The distributor’s global operations organisation is headed up by Westcon COO, Simon Minett, who has been promoted to executive vice-president of global operations and logistics. He will now be responsible for standardising Westcon’s global logistic and sales capabilities.

In a statement, Westcon CEO, Dean Douglas, said the new operation complements the company’s global sales model, which was created in response to requests from customers and vendors.

Minett will remain in his UK office.

“As these companies become more sophisticated and dependent on global business opportunities, they will increasingly come to depend on our logistics expertise, global reach and global sales capabilities,” Douglas said.

Westcon also announced vice-president of operations will continue to run the operations and logistics organisation in the Americas. Vice-president of business operations, Chris Leeming, will look after Westcon’s global distribution model.
