Symantec will this week release a software suite that combines five of its most popular Norton utility applications for 60 per cent of the cost of the individual products.
Symantec said Norton SystemWorks will be priced at $229 RRP. Owners of Norton AntiVirus, Norton Utilities, Uninstall Deluxe and CrashGuard can upgrade to SystemWorks for $149.
The suite includes Norton AntiVirus 5.0, Norton Utilities, Norton Uninstall, Norton CrashGuard, and a six-month subscription to Norton Web Services, said Lyn Tran, Symantec's regional product manager - security and business unit, the Asia-Pacific.
Tran said the products would be particularly popular in the larger department stores.
The utilities are bundled on a single CD and there is a single manual and online help for all programs.
Tran said the release would help Symantec to take business from rivals, like Network Associates, in a market where customers increasingly want to buy their utilities in packages suites. Tran said SystemWorks is superior to other utility suites because the products are truly integrated rather than just sold together.
The company will continue to offer the five products as stand-alone offerings for as long as there is sufficient demand.
