Samsung Electronics has taken the wrappers off its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S.
It will be launched in Australia on July 1 through Optus. The telco will have the device exclusively for four weeks after the launch date.
The device is powered by a 1Ghz processor and Google’s Android 2.1 operating system.
Featuring a 1GHz application processor and a four-inch touchscreen, it delivers bright screen quality. When combined with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user-interface (UI), it allows users to record, edit and play HD video, browse the Internet, play games and read eBooks.
It also introduces Samsung Social Hub, an integrated messaging solution, which brings together contacts, calendars and social networks together in one place.
The smartphone also includes the rich augmented reality browser, Layar, which uses the camera view on the phone to show you the location of nearby Points of Interest (POI’s) such as ATM’s, restaurants and businesses plus heaps of other useful information.
