CA sues Quest

Charging that four former employees stole source code and trade secrets for some of its database management products, Computer Associates has filed suit against competitor Quest Software in the US District Court. The lawsuit alleges that Quest employees illegally took and passed on to Quest code that was taken from CA's Enterprise Database Administration software (EDBA). The four had worked for Platinum Technology International, which was acquired by CA in 1999. The two-count suit alleges that the employees had access to source code that eventually made its way into Quest products, infringing on CA's copyright and misappropriating its trade secrets.

Developers team on my2ic

Financial services software developers Taten and Avanteos have formed an agreement whereby Avanteos will use Taten's my2ic online platform as the user interface to Avanteos's financial management system. Avanteos aggregates data from numerous sources to provide financial planners with a single view of their customer's financial assets. Under the new agreement, Avanteos will replace its existing Investor Access Interface with Taten's my2ic platform. "My2ic has the benefit of an easily re-brandable interface," said Mark Papendieck, Avanteos's CEO.
