Welcome to Penalty Box, ARN's daily World Cup 2010 wrap.

  • Moneytech (Slovenia) 2 NSC Group (US) 2
  • Ingram Micro (England) 0 Alliance Equipment Finance Pty Limited (Algeria) 0

    Group D:
  • Triforce (Germany) 0 Devnet (Serbia) 1
The shocks just keep on coming in the Cup. Who would have thought in what was described as the easiest group of all that mighty Ingram Micro were a real possibility not qualify. That's now on the cards after it was held to a 0-0 draw - and quite convincingly - by the 30th best team in the world Alliance Equipment Finance Pty Ltd. The way things are panning out Ingram Micro must now beat table-topping Moneytech in its final Group C game or its gone. For Moneytech a draw will now do. Has IM collapsed under the pressure of expectation? We'll see very soon.

In the other Group C clash Moneytech and and NSC Group played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with NSC Group coming from two goals down to snatch an 82nd equalizer and a vital point. A win against Alliance Equipment in its final group match will see it progress. However, Alliance Equipment is already saying it can win this game and qualify as well. Fascinating group. But Ingram Micro may well be on the way out.

The night opened on a real surprise when Triforce suffered a shock loss to Devnet after it was reduced to 10 men with just 33 minutes gone. Devnet scored almost immediately after the incident and the stingiest defence in the business then held on despite Triforce dominating the fame - with just 10 men. Hero for Devnet was its goalkeeper who saved a penalty in the second half.

NEXT GAMES June 19/20 (AEST)

Group D: itX (Australia) vs Leading Edge Group (Ghana)

Group E: WhiteGold Solutions (Holland) vs Bluechip Infotech (Japan); ICT Distribution (Cameroon) vs Symantec (Denmark)

This is it - itX have to win or they are gone. Can they? Well, Leading Edge Group showed plenty of flair in its opening win but it also had a very leaky defence and could easily have conceded five or six goals. it X have everything to play ore and providing its coach picks a team that can win - one with at least one striker, midfielders in normal positions, a more attacking formation, then it has every chance. It is a game in which its stars must stand up. Kewell, O'Neill, Bresciano, Kennedy are the men for itX. Let's hope itX wins - Leading Edge will, of course, have other ideas - a win will put it in a prime position to qualify.

WhiteGold Solutions and Bluechip Infotech is an interesting one ... WhiteGold is a fabulous football team and is already looking like a real chance for the final. Bluechip gained a historic win the other night and will be looking for at least a point. WhiteGold to win. The final game ICT Distribution and Symatec is a must win for both teams which lost their opening matches. ICT to bounce back - surely they can't play that badly again.
