Digital Networks Australia (DNA) is confident its distribution relationship with NetScreen will continue despite the shake-up in the security vendor's channel strategy.
DNA has been distributing NetScreen products since 1999. The company is currently in talks with the vendor to determine its future channel strategy, but a final decision is yet to be made, according to the distributor.
"At no time in any conversation have we discussed not getting access to the product set," said DNA sales director Munsoor Khan. "Our discussions are ongoing and we still have a valid distribution agreement with NetScreen."
That agreement runs for the rest of the calendar year at least, Khan said. "At this point in time, nothing has changed. We want to be clear on NetScreen's future channel strategy but we are highly confident our relationship will continue."
NetScreen has appointed LAN Systems to distribute its products nationally. Khan said DNA understood the vendor wanted to bring a national distributor on board to increase its presence in the Australian market.
"NetScreen announced its intention to go national quite early on," he told ARN. "What surprises me is that LAN Systems already distributes firewalls for at least half a dozen other vendors."
