IBM has played match-maker by uniting SSA Global Technologies with Candle Corporation to take an online procurement system based on Big Blue's WebSphere platform to market.
SSA and Candle have been long-term IBM business partners and will now join forces to deliver online procurement solutions to the industrial and manufacturing sector.
Under an OEM agreement with Digital Union, SSA has exclusive distribution rights to the iProcurement product in Australia and New Zealand. Built using IBM's WebSphere Commerce Suite, the software enables the company's online systems to follow approved procurement procedures, while generating and tracking purchase orders until goods are received.
Independent software vendor Candle is the largest WebSphere reseller in Australia and will contribute its integration experience and own application management and reporting software to the agreement.
The partnership opens up the manufacturing sector to Candle, while SSA extends its ability to deploy the iProcurement system using Candle's resources.
"SSA and Candle are valued IBM business partners and are focused on delivering quality hardware and software solutions to customers in the global mid market space," said Amanda Mitchell, regional channel sales manager, software, IBM Australia/New Zealand.
"Candle's firmly established skills and expertise in its WebSphere solutions practice combined with SSA's iProcurement solution is the kind of partnership we want to nurture," she said.
Under the auspices of Guy Simpson, Candle's IBM Alliance director, Candle has fostered strong ties to Big Blue's WebSphere business. Candle formed a spin-off integration division, Maguire, 12 months ago which effectively develops and deploys applications built around IBM's WebSphere product line in conjunction with Candle's software.
