IPL scores VoIP software deal

Distributor's CommSoft deal coincides with efforts to open up new market opportunities for dealers

IPL Communications has landed a distribution agreement with VoIP software vendor, CommSoft RMS. It has also flagged plans to launch market initiatives for partners.

IPL Communications general manager, Paul Scanlan, said it spent eight months searching for the right product and had a list of criteria involved. The CommsOffice product suite is a modular range of software applications for telephone systems, covering entry-level to multi-site enterprise requirements.

The deal with IPL covers six products: CommsOffice Express, CommsOffice Professional, CommsOffice Enterprise, CommsOffice Voice, CommsOffice Console and CommsOffice CTI.

“We wanted to make sure we had the right partnership and one of the criteria was that they had to have a global presence,” Scanlan said. “As you enter into the enterprise space, you have a number of customers with a global presence.”

Other criteria the vendor had to meet was the ability to provide 24/7 support services globally and resources to keep up with the development of the telco market, he said. CommSoft RMS products will fit in with the distributor’s line of Panasonic PBX devices.

“We had to find applications that would enhance the performance of the phone system to be able to meet the competition like Avaya, Siemens and Alcatel,” Scanlan said.

The distributor will provide its dealership with training on how to sell IP solutions. In other news, IPL has contracted a lead generation company, Hired Guns, to help provide new market opportunities for its dealer base.

“One thing that’s missing in the channel right now is the lack of prospects to talk to and that’s an area we feel we can add the most value to,” Scanlan said.
