Since the demise of Plus Corp, Fernandes had been doing some consulting work for two-and-a-half years before he was approached by Ingram for the newly created role.
“Ingram hasn’t had a dedicated product manager for that range, so I’ll be expanding on that,” Fernandes said. “I was looking to work for a large organisation and I couldn’t say no to Ingram.”
Fernandes will focus on growing the distributor’s reseller base across the two HP product lines, and claimed the thin client market was an area where resellers could make decent margins.
“There’s not a lot of distributors in the market selling this product, but they’re selling quite a lot of thin clients and workstations,” he said. “It will be my job to establish the big players [resellers] in the market and give them support.”
