iiNet has a big reseller base which includes system integrators that bundle hardware with the ISP’s Internet and telephony services.
While Cisco is part of iiNet’s core network, this is the first time iiNet’s business division has taken on the vendor’s router products. Three routers will be supported by iiNet, including the Cisco Small Business Pro 500 Series SRP 527.
The partnership will help the ISP expand its SMB reach, according to iiNet CTO, Greg Bader.
“We’ve had business products for a while and we’ve generally targeted the SOHO space but we are gradually moving up from serving 1-10 seats to 10-50 seats,” he said. “Different SMBs have different needs and we have other hardware other than Cisco.”
iiNet’s business segment is dwarfed by its residential market share but Bader said it was a growing base and his team is ready to hit the field to track down new business customers.
“We have a new team, direction and focus so we believe we’ve finally got the right combination to engage the different business segment and support them right,” he said.
