Getronics has announced new branding, a services revamp and a significant investment strategy following its integration into the UXC Group.
Getronics was acquired by the ASX-listed group (ASX: UXC) in February 2008 for an undisclosed sum. At the time, UXC claimed the purchase would improve its managed services game and infrastructure services capabilities.
The newly-branded UXC Connect said it will invest $1 million, as well 27,000 man hours, into systems, training and additional staff resources from 2010-2014. It has already expanded its Management Information Systems using Prince II and ITIL Version 3 tools.
UXC Connect managing director, Paul Timmins, told ARN its key objective was to provide business outcomes for customers. This involved implementing rigorous processes, SLAs and redefining its go-to-market model around sustainable IT solutions focused on profitability and efficiency, he said. For example, UXC Connect’s offerings include infrastructure, workspace, environment and managed sustainability services.
“What we brought to the table with UXC is that managed services overlay – otherwise you end up with what I’d call point-to-point solutions,” Timmins explained. “What UXC did was allow us to embark on this transformation journey and access a wider group of companies and experience, so we have a much stronger market message.”
To help staff better position its business-oriented services, it has engaged consulting firm, Aspire Group, to undertake sales training. UXC Connect is also working towards obtaining ISO14001 accreditation by September to cement its environmental proposition.
“The key milestone for me is where we are at with our customers,” Timmins said. As part of its rebranding announcement, UXC Connect revealed a new contract with Tomago Aluminium to provide a managed services solution. It claims Tomago is the first deal won through its new business proposition and involved both UXC Connect and the group’s subsidiary, Oxygen, delivering an SAP-based ERP solution.
Another step forward was to better leverage UXC’s other ICT subsidiaries companies, Timmins said. Alongside Oxygen, UXC Connect was actively engaging with Red Rock Consulting for Oracle skills and Eclipse Computing around Microsoft Dynamics platforms. UXC’s ITIL consulting company, Lucid IT, was also critical to several of Getronics’ high-end consulting customer wins, he said.
Timmins added the new business model would help expand its customer base outside of its utilities and government stronghold, and into broader outsourcing opportunities.
“We’re not by any means finished – we will continue our sales and pre-sales investment and we have to find the right customers to engage with,” he said.
