Unified communications (UC) vendor, Applied Voice & Speech Technologies (AVST), has inked an Asia-Pacific master distribution agreement with Active Communications.
The local distributor comprises former staff from another UC vendor, Active Voice, who left when it was bought out by NEC 14 months ago. The team has more than 10 years experience in the UC space.
AVST acquired Active Voice from NEC in April.
The new distribution deal gives Active Communications responsibilities for regions outside of Asia-Pacific such as Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
AVST is Active Communications’ sole UC vendor.
Having worked with Active Voice products before, the distributor’s CEO, Paul Baxter, said his company was chosen because it is tightly aligned with the vendor’s strategy.
“Between where we are positioned and AVST’s needs, we are a good match in terms of generating a bigger footprint on a global basis,” he said.
As a result of the new relationship, Active Communications is looking for a number of resellers to join the ranks and expand the company’s presence nationally.
It currently has five resellers in Australia.
Baxter said AVST’s vendor-agnostic UC technology will be a key sales driver. It also distributes Sagem telecommunications products.
