The lazy Lotus
Lotus Development is shipping Domino Fax Server 4.5, which, according to the company, makes sending faxes as simple as sending e-mail.
Domino Fax Server 4.5 permits users connected to a LAN to send and receive faxes without a desktop modem connection. Users can send faxes and attachments from a Web browser or from any Windows application.
Lotus' product marketing manager, Alistair Cloke, says "by merging faxes and e-mail into a central system we've completely cut the complexity of handling faxes. Now there's no more queuing to send faxes, losing inbound faxes, forgetting to track ISD faxes for billing or having to send e-mail and faxes to a list of people as two separate tasks."
Domino Fax Server 4.5 is Windows NT 4.0-compatible and carries an RRP starting at $4081.
