Unified comms vendor signs IP networking distributor to secure a bigger piece of the lucrative SME pie

Unified communications (UC) vendor, Aastra, has signed Lan 1 as a distributor to tackle the SME market.

Aastra has traditionally been strong in the enterprise space but it wants to get involved with SMEs.

According to Lan 1, it is the first Australian distributor to offer the complete range of Aastra handset and IntelliGate IP products.

According to the distributor, about 70 per cent of its resellers dabble in both SME and enterprise sectors, making it a good candidate for the UC vendor.

“UC is certainly a growth area and we will continue to push into the markets that offer good return for us and our partners,” Lan 1 marketing manager, Mathew Bertram, said.

The distributor is undertaking vendor certification and will have engineers for the Aastra range nationwide.

Lan 1 will also work on a training program, allowing it to train resellers directly.

“We have a solid three month plan in place to identify and enable the right partners,” Bertram said.

Aastra marketing manager, John Norcic, said it had predominantly played in enterprise market for quite a while and it was looking to take its systems, support and skills into the SME.
