Vital Peripheral Supplies claims consistency of engagement and keeping its fashion industry client aware of ongoing printing consumables costs is key to its success. DAVID RAMLI report.
The busy world of fashion blends artistic haute couture with scientific accuracy. So when a clothing designer and manufacturer with 90 seats required a consistent and high-quality printing solution, it turned to a value-added reseller that could deliver the holistic picture.
According to Vital Peripheral Supplies national sales manager, Hartley Taylor, its client saw printing draft designs as being critical to the success of the business.
“Printing was essential for it – it does a lot of designs of clothes and needs to print them out,” he said.
The client’s existing inkjet printers were starting to suffer from wear and tear as well as excessive ink usage. Print quality was beginning to degrade, while costs were steadily increasing. The solution was to stay ahead of the spending curve and pick new products with lower running costs and better features.
Taylor said Vital provided seven Epson R2880s A3 oversized inkjet printers.
“Epsons are easy to set-up so there were no problems there,” he said. But as with many printing solutions, the initial outlay was only a fraction of the long-term cost. Rather than sourcing consumables like ink and paper itself, the company turned to the reseller for continuing services and dependable supplies.
“It’s always hard to estimate a cost per year on any printing solution because it depends on how much it is used, the coverage of the page, the media being printed on and so forth,” Taylor said. “Like a lot of companies, the client looked into the ongoing running costs of the printers and we were able to play a role in making sure it was going to get wellpriced consumables on an ongoing basis.”
