Computer Associates International has enhanced the automation capabilities of its backup and recovery software this week to make it easier for IT managers to maintain business continuity.
The company also gave an easier-to-use interface to version 9 of its BrightStor ARCserve Backup software for Intel-based servers.
BrightStor ARCserve Backup includes a new scheduling feature that lets IT managers automate a number of routine and tedious tasks, such as drive cleaning or database maintenance. At present, they are only able to schedule routine backups.
The company has also introduced a new user interface, which it claims is easier to use for novice administrators. Further, the company has redesigned the installation and registration procedures.
BrightStor ARCserve Backup works on NetWare, Windows and Linux. Users with BrightStor ARCserve 2000 for Windows, BrightStor ARCserve Backup 7 for NetWare or BrightStor ARCserve Backup 7 for Linux can upgrade to version 9 at no charge.
Since the company just entered the beta program for this product, pricing and shipping dates are not available.
