Melbourne-based distributor, Techplus, has introduced sweeping changes to its business including a vendor shakeup, additional staff and new partner program.
The company has added ManageEngine, Igel, Celestix, Tricerat, Infoblox and Expand Networks to its vendor laundry list covering technologies from thin-client to WAN acceleration. Service desk software maker, ManageEngine and WAN acceleration stalwart, Expand Networks, were given a special mention by Techplus managing director, Paul Kern, who flagged them as significant additions.
With the influx of vendors to its portfolio, the distributor is dropping some old names off the list but Kern is staying mum on which companies will be kiboshed.
“The dynamics of the market changes and things that were appropriate a few years ago are no longer relevant now,” he said.
A Multi-Vendor partner program has also been announced to localise and streamline a plethora of different channel programs. Techplus is offering cooperative marketing, support, presales assistance, evaluations as well as a partner portal for its entire vendor range.
“A lot of vendor partner programs don’t implement well in the region as it might be tailored for other countries and doesn’t offer a lot of benefit to resellers,” Kern said. “Secondly, as a distributor, we might be representing 15 vendors and each has its own program. The whole idea of this Multi-Vendor program is to tie all that together so it is a lot easier for resellers to understand what’s going on, what the benefits are, and so on.”
Fuelling its channel activities, the distributor has recruited former Infotronics channel manager, Michael Crocombe, to fill look after Techplus’ Northern Region. He will be based in its new Sydney office.
Paul Doherty has also been enlisted to head up its new professional services team, working to build additional services coverage in all major areas.
