Hitachi unleashes Hitachi X Series external storage

New desktop and mobile hard drives available now


Hitachi has unleashed the Hitachi X Series external storage solution in Australia and New Zealand.

This series is composed of two different members: The Hitachi XL Desktop Drive and the Hitachi X Mobile Drive.

The Hitachi XL Desktop Drive comes in capacities of 2TB and 1TB, with USB 2.0 connectivity. It gives Mac and PC users capacity to store or backup 660,000 photos, 500,000 MP3s or 153 hours of digital video.

The Hitachi X Mobile Drive is also powered through a USB 2.0 cable and is designed for the growing mobile world. It is similar to the SimpleDRIVE mini and offers Hitachi Local Backup. Two models are available: The Hitachi X500 Mobile Drive (500GB) and Hitachi X320 Mobile Drive (320GB).

Vice-president of Asia-Pacific, Robert Chu, claimed the drives offered simple storage and backup for a broad range of users.

“People are inundated with digital content daily, and many are not taking the necessary precautions to safeguard their content,” he said. “We have a simple storage and backup solutions for just about anyone.”

The Hitachi X Series is now available and comes with a three-year limited warranty.
