Desperate to grab at least one market sector from Windows NT, Novell yesterday reached out to small businesses with the release of NetWare for Small Business 4.11.
The package integrates Novell GroupWise 5.2, Netscape's FastTrack Web server, and Computer Associates' fax, back-up and anti-virus software. Oracle's Oracle8 data server software will be offered in the box within 45 days.
NetWare for Small Business 4.11 also features a new automated installation process and the Novell Easy Administration Tool, a graphical interface for managing the network. Novell Application Launcher automates application management and distribution.
Local pricing and availability for NetWare for Small Business 4.11 is not yet available from Novell.
However in the US, a five-user CD-ROM pack is priced at $US995, with each additional license costing $US65. Upgrade pricing is $US595 for five users and $US895 for 10 users. The upgrade from Novell's IntraNetWare for Small Business flop is free for US users who purchased their software after January 27 and costs $US195 for those who purchased it before then.
