Simms International has recruited ComputerCorp veteran, Michael Rickers, in a bid to ramp up its corporate engagement.
Rickers was previously general manager of ComputerCorp and has held sales roles with Hitachi Data Systems.
At Simms, he will fill the role of general manager of sales – a position vacant for the past 12 months and overseen by Simms managing director, Danny Moore.
The distributor is looking to restructure its sales team and build it further through investments, Moore told ARN. Rickers will be responsible for overseeing the initiative and analysing and developing Simms’ three main channels – retail, Apple specialists and corporate.
“We’ve been spread pretty thinly and haven’t been necessarily able to capitalise on all the opportunities presented to us in the last 12 months,” Moore said.
“The corporate business, for instance, has fallen back a bit while our Apple and retail business has been growing, and we’ve got two key new partnerships in IronKey and Motion Computing in that space.”
Simms’ growth plans also saw it expand into New Zealand early this year.
