Security software-as-a-service provider, Manage Protect, has appointed its first dedicated channel marketing manager, Vickie Helson.
She will be responsible for the execution of joint marketing campaigns with partners and joins the company after three years as a product manager at Ethernet provider and Optus subsidiary, Uecomm.
“I don’t think anything needs changing,” Helson said. “It’s not like I’ve come into a green operation – the staff really know what they’re doing. I’m an extra set of hands and legs.”
Prior to Uecomm, Helson worked for Optus’ consumer division from 2006-2007 and for Pacific Internet (now Pacnet) for six-and-a-half years as a product marketing specialist.
She pointed out 85 per cent of Managed Protect’s revenues came from managed service providers, with the rest made through value added resellers.
MSPs would continue to be the main focus.
“They know where they’re going, they’re organised and have sales teams of their own and they’ve got a decent amount of resources to work,” Helson said.
“The main challenge facing partners is ensuring their business grows at the right scale. They don’t want to grow to the point where their level of service drops.”
Despite having just eight staff locally, Helson said growing customer numbers was a key priority for Managed Protect.
“We’ve got 25 partners at the moment and we’re looking to move up to about 40 by the end of the year,” she said. “We’re in a unique position in the market in that we’re 100 per cent in the channel. There’s no channel conflict with direct sales so partners are our focus.”
