Computer Technology Express Australia
Computer Technology Express Australia, also known as Tech Express, is an importer and distributor of high-end hardware and software. Check out its "gateway" site for information about the products it distributes, with information ranging from product features, benefits, specifications, to product news. The site was designed, implemented and installed by Tech Express employees, runs on NT servers in-house and is connected to the Telstra backbone - go to www.techexpress.com.au/details.htm to find out how they did it.
Tech Express also has a Web site for its partners and resellers. Fill in the form at www.techex press.com.au/product_frameset.htm to gain a username and password.
PS: check out the staff at Tech Express who have filled out a gruelling questionnaire.
Intelligent Technologies, a network connectivity solutions distributor, has put together an interesting site covering its product lines. Product information available at the site includes data sheets, FAQs, and technical reference and user manuals for downloading. The site also offers software downloads which support its products, including network camera servers and network printer servers. Resellers are able to subscribe (at www.intelligent.com.au/IT/subscrib.htm) to the company's e-mail list, which sends out announcements regarding product releases and pricing specials. Intelligent Technologies will send you pricing information by e-mail if you request it via a form at the site.
Intelligent Technologies has put its expertise to work, placing four Neteye 200 cameras (which Intelligent Technologies distributes) around the company's Parramatta office in Sydney (one being the security camera over the front door) - all can be viewed live, via the site. And for the techno-voyeurs or voyeur techies, there are some great links to cameras on the Web (I particularly liked the FM radio station in Argentina - setting out to debunk the face for radio myth - or maybe not).
Dataflow's reseller Web site, "Reseller Services", is a secured version of "Online Dataflow" (the main Dataflow Web site geared for end users). It is packed with dealer-sensitive information, featuring an online software catalogue with dealer prices, downloadable price lists in Excel format, and monthly run specials for dealers on certain lines of products. It is also possible to view stock avail- ability, which is updated every half hour from Dataflow's main inventory system. Dealer newsletters are posted on the site for downloading and there is information on current promotions being offered by Dataflow (including pricing, codes and info about point of sale materials). To apply for access to the site you must have a current account with Dataflow. Go to the bottom right corner of Dataflow's home page to find a link to the application form.
XClusive Software is a newly established Sydney-based software distribution company which has been (according to its home page) set up to "provide quality service and support to the Australian publishing market". Quark software and Astrobyte's BeyondPress 3.0, a Web authoring tool, are included in XClusive's product portfolio. Webbies can download an evaluation copy of BeyondPress 3.0 from the XClusive site. There are also links to tips and tricks related to the publishing and graphics industries. A nice looking site.
Digital Tape Solutions
This is a brand spanking new home page for Digital Tape Solutions (DTS). It's in the early stages but has information posted about its product range: the Quantum digital linear tape products and solid state disks. There are technical details, product training seminar information, and DTS' offerings in terms of support and warranties.
If you are a distributor and have a Web site you'd like reviewed, send the address to the editor of Channel Surfing, Molly Furzer, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
