Victoria-based integrator, S Central, has launched a Web listings service to pair IT contractors with managers.
Managing director, Peter Mavridis, said the IT Contractors portal was designed to help employers find quality IT skills. The matchmaking facility allowed corporates to locate and book contractors in real-time.
"In the past six months we have experienced great difficulty finding skilled IT resources. I know our colleagues are having the same issue," Mavridis said. "It's very hard to know exactly what is available out there."
Most tier-one and -two systems integrators had in-house recruitment, according to Mavridis.
"We have needed a recruitment arm for a number of reasons, but we didn't just want to be a traditional recruiter," he said. "The current model is to post IT projects on Seek and wait for resumes. This is reverse engineering that."
Mavridis said the portal would also help reduce recruitment costs and generate sales leads.
Listings would include a contractor's personal details, rates and resume. A search facility allows IT managers to hunt for skills and specialisations.
The service was devised and built by S Central. It will be managed by former human resources manager, Taryn Evans.
Mavridis said it would initially target top 500 enterprises.
So far, the portal features 200 contractors from Victoria. IT Contractors aims to rollout the service nationally by the end of the year with 1000 listings.
