Hayes extends speed and mobility

Hayes Australia has released a range of products designed for the modem, remote access and mobile computing markets.

Three new models in the ACCURA modem product line introduce 56Kbit/sec technology to the Hayes range. The ACCURA 56K Data/ Fax Modem sports transfer rates of up to 115,200bit/sec, with automatic dial and answer and hot swappable capability, and carries an RRP-tag of $299. An internal version is priced at $249.

The ACCURA 56K SpeakerPhone SVD supports V.42 error control with fax on demand capability and the facility to provide multiple voice mailboxes and priority message paging. It has an RRP of $399 for an external unit and $349 for an internal unit.

Catering to the mobile market is the OPTIMA V.34 Global GSM PC Card, a 33.6Kbit/sec flash-upgradable modem with full data and fax communication at 9600bit/sec via the GSM digital cellular network.

The OPTIMA has an RRP of $499. A PC Card version is also available for RRP $699, and comes with a GSM hands-free accessory kit. In the remote access area Hayes has released the Century 2004 entry-level remote access server, with four asynchronous ports and the ability to be controlled remotely. The Century 2004 carries a tax inclusive RRP of $3250.

Hayes has also released the Century MR 200 Chassis, which supports four to 64 33.6Kbit/sec modems or eight to 112 56K modems, at an RRP of $1880.

Also from Hayes is the ACCURA 336 V.34 PC Modem Card, which supports all major network operating systems, with auto idle mode and error detection, priced at $349. Finally, the ACCURA 336+ Ethernet PC Card from Hayes connects to Ethernet LAN for data/fax transfer, and carries an RRP of $499.

Upgrade for NetEye 200

Intelligent Technologies has released a software upgrade for its AXIS NetEye 200 Internet camera. Enhancements include remote monitoring, support for live motion pictures and enhanced image resolution.

Users can now connect the NetEye 200 to a modem, meaning an Ethernet connection is no longer required. The camera itself connects directly to the network without the need for a supporting PC, and is compatible with numerous operating systems. Images are viewed using a standard Web browser.

The camera now generates live images at a rate of up to five frames/second, with image resolution of 704 x 588 pixels at 24-bit colour depth.

Intelligent Technologies has released its own software for use with the NetEye. Bay says the Switch Node delivers wire-speed IP/IPX forwarding at layer 2 switch latencies. The IP AutoLearn function enables the Switch Node to plug into existing environments.

The Switch Node is available as a five-slot chassis at an RRP of $5543, a 16-port 10Base-T switching module with an RRP of $16,650, an eight-port 10Base-FL switching module priced at $16,650 RRP, and a two-port 100Base-TX switching module with an RRP of $14,428.

MiLAN

Digi International division MiLAN has announced its 185C and 195C converter, designed for cost-effective connections to ATM and other technologies running at 155Mbit/sec.

The 185C converts UTP to multi-mode fibre optic media, connecting sites at distances of up to two kilometres. The 195C converts UTP to single-mode fibre optic media, covering network distances of up to 15km.

Both products include a RJ-45 connector and an SC-style fibre optic connector, with three LEDs for displaying power and port status. The MiLAN 185C carries an RRP of $1325, while the 195C has an RRP of $2635.
