State of the market

  • Resource and energy stocks led the market to a strong start after positive leads from Wall St. Those gains held up all day. At close of trading, the S&P/ASX200 was up 40.7 points at 4807.9.
  • The Aussie dollar is trading higher at $US0.9089. Gold has risen to $US1137.5 an ounce and oil is up 0.43 per cent to $US81.9 a barrel.
