GlobalConnect jumps on managed services bandwagon

Communications managed services solutions expected to help out those still facing financial roadblocks

Avaya partner, GlobalConnect, has launched a managed services offering in a bid to aid customers that have adopted an OpEx business model.

With the last 12-18 months being difficult in the wake of the financial crisis, a number of customers have encountered financial roadblocks when approaching upgrades or new systems rollouts, GlobalConnect managing director, Pushkar Taneja, said.

Those difficulties had lead the integrator to look at alternative solutions and trial a number of managed services solutions over the past year, he said.

The five customers who adopted a managed service approach were happy with the service. This has lead GlobalConnect to announce the offering to the broad market.

“We don’t talk about a customer’s entire environment – just its communications and applications environments, but it was important for customers to see we have a managed services offering,” Taneja said.

Beyond the financial incentives, customers were attracted to the ability for a managed services solution to provide ongoing service, but the integrator doesn’t expect managed services to be the default go-to-market approach in the future.

“Based on what most companies have gone through in the past year they are taking steps more cautiously, but there are a number of organisations that are still going to make capital investments in the future,” Taneja said.

“With the managed services offering we’re going to be working on an ‘as need’ basis.”
