Ingram appoints former HP staffer as marketing director

Former HP PSG marketing manager to lead the distributor's marketing strategy

Ingram Micro has recruited former HP marketing manager, Grant Cleary, to lead its marketing strategy.

In his newly appointed role, he will report directly into Ingram’s A/NZ managing director, Jay Miley. Previously, the marketing manager reported to former sales and marketing director, John Walters.

Most recently, Cleary was marketing manager for HP’s Personal Systems Group division and spent three-and-a-half years with the vendor. He said his first point of focus at Ingram was to learn about the business and start meeting with vendors. Although there was some exposure to channel at HP, the move into distribution was an exciting contrast to his previous role covering end-user marketing, Cleary said.

“I’m looking to absorb as much information as I can about how we can be effective and drive our business through marketing,” he said. “We’ve elevated the importance of marketing within the organisation.”

Prior to HP, Cleary was held marketing and sales roles in the publishing and telecommunication industries.
