BCN spins off PC assembly arm

Distribution outfit BCN Technology has spun off its PC integration and assembly business Beyond Computers.

The move will allow the company to remain competitive in its core competency of distribution, according to managing director Ken Lowe.

"The departure of Beyond Computers Australia is an important strategic business move for us in the increasingly competitive Australian IT channel," he said in a statement.

Established in 1991, BCN has expanded its distribution operations to include peripherals, components, systems, servers and software packages. The company has spent the last 12 months developing a real-time B2B solution integrated with the company's supply chain and financial management system, linking its back office with reseller partners via its Web site.

"Our goal is to assist the channel in exceeding their growth and profit targets," Lowe said.

BCN deals with vendors such as Sony, LG, NEC, Netcomm, Epson, Canon, Verbatim, Supermicro, Leadtek and PC Partner. The spin-off has the full support of BCN's vendor partners and will ensure the future growth of the business, according to the company.
