Groove names ex-USI exec as president

Groove Networks on Wednesday announced that former USInternetworking COO Chuck Teubner will join the company as president and COO and focus on day-to-day operations of the peer-to-peer software vendor.

Co-founder Ray Ozzie will remain as the company's chairman and CEO and focus on technology and business strategy, according to the company.

"Chuck's operational leadership in both the platform software and hosted Web services businesses will prove invaluable to Groove Networks as it scales to serve the needs of the company's global enterprise customers," Ozzie said in a statement.

Teubner leaves struggling application service provider USInternetworking and joins Groove shortly before the expected release of Groove 2.0, which the company hopes will broaden its reach beyond a small set of initial enterprise customers.
