EDS has won a tender for a five-year IT application development outsourcing agreement for Telstra worth in excess of $500 million.
EDS will develop and maintain Telstra's billing services and database applications. In a statement released to the Australian Stock Exchange, Telstra officials said all staff affected by the outsourcing agreement have been offered positions at EDS that are "equal to or better" than current positions with Telstra. EDS spokesperson Maryanne Taylor said around 750 Telstra staff will now be employed in EDS' Melbourne office.
EDS staff will be accountable to the management of each strategic business unit at Telstra. The agreement kicks in from March 7.
