Multiple accolades were presented to distributors, Ingram Micro and Express Data, at the highly anticipated third annual ARN IT Industry Awards on September 24.
Ingram Micro won Hardware Distributor of the Year, along with Best Distributor Initiative for its LicenceTracker offering. In the Channel Choice popular vote-based category, Ingram was recognised as Distributor of the Year alongside Cisco (Vendor) and Dimension Data (Reseller).
Express Data, meanwhile, was honoured with the Software Distributor title, while staffer, Niall Connell, received the Customer Service award in the Personal Innovation category. Other individual winners on the night were EMC’s Chris Moyle (Sales Excellence) and Gen-i’s Safi Obeidullah (Technical Excellence).
Express Data’s longstanding managing director, Ross Cochrane, was also acknowledged for his contribution to the IT channel and inducted into the ARN Hall of Fame alongside Intel’s Phil Cronin and Ken and Maree Lowe from PC assembler and reseller, ASI Solutions. The trio will join ARN’s previous inductees spanning the vendor, distributor and reseller community: Phil Cameron, John Grant, David Henderson, Peter Kazacos, Jon Shein and John Walters.
Across the vendor categories, power management provider, APC, received two awards: Green Vendor of the Year and Specialist Vendor of the Year. The company sat alongside Hardware Vendor, HP, and Software Vendor, VMware. The Datacom team, meanwhile, were up off their chairs after scoring Green Project of the Year . At the reseller level, Data#3 took out Enterprise Reseller for the second year in a row. Other winners were Anittel (formerly PKBA, SMB Reseller of the Year) and Harvey Norman (Retailer of the Year). There were Highly Commended and Finalist certifi cates given out for each of the award categories. This year, 600 representatives from the IT community packed into Sydney’s Hilton Hotel to toast the achievements of the industry, up from 520 in 2008.
Following a bubbling Champagne Reception, attendees were treated to a three-course meal and quips from master of ceremonies and media personality, Peter FitzSimons. They were also entertained by IT industry band, Cabin Fever.
