IT services outfit Com Tech is the latest channel partner to jump on the BEA wagon, committing to the vendor's WebLogic application server in future e-business projects.
According to Com Tech Online business unit manager David Bowie, the relationship was formed during a recent Com Tech project where a customer specifically requested the WebLogic platform. After the project's success, Com Tech sent several of its staff to be trained and accredited in using BEA's technology and is now formally recognised as a BEA channel partner.
Bowie said Com Tech has a commitment to its customers to provide the two most popular technologies in every area of its operations. In this case, it offered BEA's WebLogic as an alternative to IBM's WebSphere, the two being the most popular Java-based application server platforms.
However, Bowie said the company will continue to offer Microsoft's COM-based solution as an alternative. Bowie said there is now an even split between customers wanting Java builds and Microsoft.
