Looking to buoy software sales until the release of the long awaited Office XP later this year, Microsoft has announced a special promotion for those who purchase Office 2000 from now until June 30. Customers who purchase a qualifying Office 2000 family product will be able to receive an upgrade to the XP range for $19.95 retail. Microsoft's technology guarantee will help retailers after a quiet Christmas, according to Office product manager Mark Linton.
"Microsoft is committed to its retail partners and continuously looks for ways in which we can work with them to reach their business objectives," he said in a statement.
Retailers have met the move with enthusiasm, with Harvey Norman general manager for computers and communication John Slack-Smith describing the promotion as "a real boost to the whole market".
