• 20 November, 2009 15:58

Digislide Holdings Limited (ASX:DGI), a South-Australian company which specialises in the development and commercialisation of miniature projection technologies, has successfully secured a $1.2 million Government grant to further advance its opto-electronics and clean technology research and development.

Digislide was awarded the funds under the South Australian Innovation and Investment Fund (SAIIF), a $30 million government grant designed to help strengthen South Australia’s technology and manufacturing industries. Two other early expansion technology companies, Spinergy and H2Oasis Energy, were co-applicants with Digislide for the funding.

Digislide CEO Luceille Outhred said securing the Government grant is a testament to the ingenuity behind the company’s miniature projection technologies and its engineering capabilities.

“This grant puts Digislide in a terrific position to strengthen our research and development activities and manufacture innovative products of the best quality. We also have an ongoing commitment to stimulate the local economy through assisting with the incubation of other South Australian innovative technology companies. It is anticipated that an additional 39 jobs will be created in Digislide and the start-up companies as each business grows,” said Ms Outhred.

The funds will be used for the creation and expansion of an Opto-electronics and Clean Energy Technology Innovation Centre and Incubation and Training Precinct. With the proposed facilities, Digislide will be able to further develop clean technology, utilise renewable energy, as well as advance its incubation and technology commercialisation services.

Ms Outhred and the Digislide team welcome the $1.2 million grant on top of a successful distribution agreement with Romanian company Comagro Vest that will see Digislide’s technologies enter the Eastern Europe market next year.

Mr Mirel Talpes, CEO of Comagro Vest said, “We are interested in the technology markets because we understand the trends of the global company and anticipate a serious growth of this sector in Eastern Europe. Our focus is to firstly distribute Digislide’s products in Romania, with a view to widen our reach and target the markets of Central and Eastern Europe.”

Digislide’s products are anticipated to hit the Eastern European markets of Romania, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia in the first quarter of 2010.

“The distribution deal with Camgro Vest is a strong validation of the product’s global potential and sets the wheel in motion for Digislide to take the lead in commercial miniature projection technologies,” said Ms Outhred.
