IP telephony distributor, Wavelink Communications, has brought on John Marshall as its channel manager.
Marshall previously spent 12 months as a business development manager (BDM) at troubled IP-security vendor, Zylotech (ASX:ZYL), which went into administration last month.
According to Marshall, he sought out the role in mid-October and was appointed in early November. His first priority will be to meet with the distributor’s reseller base and promote new products to suitable partners.
“Effectively, I’ll grow the channel across the range of products with wireless LAN, Digium and Polycom and specifically look at the IP partners as well,” he said.
Marshall said he was bringing across plenty of useful information and valuable contacts from his previous position.
“Zylotech was a start-up and a channel development role, so I learned a lot about IP, networking and security with the products there. A lot of that role was channel development focused as opposed to day-to-day channel management,” he said. “There are some established relationships we’ll try to look at leveraging off.”
Prior to Zylotech, Marshall spent 12 months at Kyocera as a distribution manager from 2007-2008 and four years at Epson as a BDM from 2003 – 2007.
