South Australian distributor, Leader Computers, has launched a service to provide resellers with Web shops.
Developed in conjunction with DBG Technologies, the new initiative allows resellers to set up Web portals to sell products from Leader Computers to end-users. According to Leader Computers sales manager, Jaimie l’Anson, all transactions are handled by DBG.
“We’ve been looking for a solution for resellers for quite a while. Anyway we can make it easier for our customers to deal with us is a win-win solution,” he said.
The Leader service costs $1000 to set-up, followed by a $200 per month maintenance fee. In late October, rival distributor, Tonnex, launched an online shopfront service costing $149 per month, but l’Anson insisted his solution offered more.
“There have been other products out on the market where people have attempted to do this and they’ve never really carried through to the sort of extent this does,” he said. “The pricing is very reasonable compared to the polish, finish and ease-of-use that customers will get from it.”
Each reseller will have their own website and be able to decide their pricing margins, based on live product prices from Leader’s database. While l’Anson understands some resellers could have fears over trading online, he said most were used to the concept.
“I’m sure there will be some resellers that won’t want to do it because they think there’s a security risk or they’re not comfortable with it,” he said.
“But a lot of our resellers already do this with us in a manual way. They’ll send us an email or they’ll place an order on our webshop and put specific delivery instructions on it and pay via credit card or direct deposit over the Internet.
“As for the end-users, we all know how much trade is happening on the Internet now. The majority of people have gotten over that initial fear and are trading like crazy.”
