  • Shares have plummeted after a rise in the US dollar. At close of trading, the S&P/ASX200 was down 76.8 points at 4753.5.
  • The Aussie dollar has fallen against the greenback and is trading at $US0.9166. Gold is also down and selling for $1042.8 an ounce while oil prices have slipped 2.26 per cent to $78.7 a barrel.
