Ingram to distribute Cisco Flip

Networking giant's Flip Video digital camcorders to be released in Australia in November.

Ingram Micro has been appointed the local distributor for Cisco's Flip Video digital camcorders. The first two products will hit local shores in November.

Portability is key to the range as Cisco claims the devices are smaller than most mobile phone. Both camcorders offer simple video capturing capabilities with MinoHD able to record in high-definition (HD). Prices for the Flip Mino and MinoHD have yet to be disclosed. Both models will initially be available in black.

The Flip Video was developed by Pure Digital Technology, which was acquired by Cisco Systems in March for $US590 million in stock. The devices have been available in the US for some time.

In a release, Cisco’s consumer products vice-president, Craig Gledhill, said the product was finally ready for its local debut. He said teaming up with Ingram Micro would help strengthen Cisco’s focus on the local consumer market and allow partners and customers to buy the product in time for Christmas.

Ingram Micro vice-president, Jay Miley, saw the product line as a good fit to the distributor’s existing range of consumer products.

“Ingram and Cisco are fully committed to its channel partnership and customer satisfaction and we look forward to working closely with Cisco to help them to exceed its goals for this product in Australia and New Zealand,” he stated.
