LG has announced the Australian launch of a 3G-enabled touchscreen mobile phone that is wearable as a watch.
The GD910 was first previewed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2009 and features 7.2Mbps 3G HSDPA compatibility, a 1.43-inch screen made of tempered glass and an RRP $2299.
It uses voice recognition features to speed up phone book searches and make calls while a text to speech system reads out text messages and other on-screen information.
The entire device is 13.9mm thick and designed to be worn on the wrist like a traditional wristwatch.
A spokesperson for the company said the vendor was in discussions with carriers and retailers on how the product will be distributed when sales begin in December.
“The LG watchphone will be available from a number of carriers and retailers that will be confirmed closer to launch,” ARN was told.
