EDGE 2020 Goes Virtual
<p>Datacom’s journey to accreditation began in February 2008. Their ISO 20000 scope included the provision of Managed Services, including Service Desk, IT support and integration, Project Management, Client Management and IT procurement services for specific customer requirements.</p>
<p>To ensure they were able to improve on delivering efficient and effective IT Service management solutions to its large customer base, Datacom focused on using the proven guidance of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to structure and co-ordinate their business processes.</p>
<p>As part of their commitment to achieving Certification to ISO 20000, Datacom were in regular contact with their dedicated BSI client manager and as a result were formally accredited in July 2009. BSI assisted Datacom’s journey by facilitating training, undertaking gap analyses and providing the means to complete internal audits to aid in process improvement methodologies.</p>
<p>Overall, ISO 20000 has provided a recognised, tried and tested management system that allows Datacom to plan, manage, deliver, monitor, review and improve their services. The standard not only looks at operational aspects but also focuses on the business controls covering associated risks, finances, resources and capabilities.</p>
<p>Moving forward, Datacom is reviewing the deployment of ISO20000 processes across all Datacom Systems regions in Australia, aligned with the overall consolidated technology approach the company is taking. In addition, they are also on the road to seeking ISO140001 Environmental Management accreditation as well as ISO27001 Information Security Management Systems certification.</p>

By implementing a management system compliant with ISO 20000, Datacom have ensured that the means of managing these ITIL fundamentals are regularly monitored and reviewed by the Management team, to achieve the customer and Datacom business requirements.</p>
