Maxtor launches new drive

Maxtor has announced a new external

storage device for the PC and Mac: the Personal Storage 3000DV.

Aimed at the retail market, the 60GB unit has a 7200rpm spin speed, 56 per cent faster than Maxtor's previous-generation unit.

The Personal Storage 3000DV is targeted at consumers who want high-speed external storage for high-end gaming, digital video, photos and music.

Users can connect the unit via a FireWire port and can plug in up to 62 stackable 60GB units to their system, allowing the storage of up to 15,000 MP3 files, 6000 high-resolution digital photos or 60 hours of compressed digital video.

The unit is priced at $999 and is available from Marketing Results and Digiland
