Astron Technology, in partnership with HP, has signed a $6 million services agreement with ASX-listed engineering firm, AJ Lucas Group (ASX: AJL).
Under the five-year contract, Astron will provide hardware, software and services to all AJ Lucas sites across Australia. The technology covers datacentre, desktops and business communications infrastructure.
The service provider and vendor are both involved in the implementation process, which includes aiding the client’s migration to a new datacentre built with HP hardware. They will also work together to provide ongoing support for the engineering group’s outsourced environments. Astron managing director, Tony Tziolis, said AJ Lucas approached the company due to its expertise in the construction, engineering and mining industry.
“AJ Lucas looked to Astron to negotiate with vendors on its behalf for the technology and to leverage marketplace knowledge to meet its budgets,” he said. “The longevity of our relationship with HP and other vendors are core to why we can partner effectively on contracts such as this.”
Tziolis said the deal allowed Astron to showcase its service abilities for out-tasking and managed services. The service provider and vendor also collaborated with Cisco for a unified communications solution for AJ Lucas’s head office. The rollout incorporates mobile phones, IP telephony, desktops and notebooks.
A contract extension is on the cards, with the customer requesting new projects and additional components to existing tasks.
