Multimedia takes on interactive whiteboards

Distributor predicts "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in revenue within 12 months

Multimedia Technology has been appointed the sole IT channel distributor for Mimio’s interactive whiteboard range in Australia.

The five models that make up the full range are aimed at the SMB and corporate markets.

“I would think revenue growth is in the order of hundreds of thousands of dollars certainly [within 12 months],” Multimedia group product manager, Rob Plowman, said.

“I approached them about it, I’d seen it in action and thought the core SMB and corporate market would be ideal. They have a separate AV channel, but I don’t foresee any overlap.”

Mimio’s main points of difference are a lower price point and increased portability. Plowman added there was no time limitation on the distribution contract and that resellers would not have a minimum sales quota placed upon them.

“It’s really a growing market. Interactive whiteboards have been very active in the education market. The only alternative to this is a large board you’ve got to wheel in and out,” he said.
