IBM has appointed a new managing director for the Australia/New Zealand region after the resignation of David Thodey.
Phil Bullock, IBM's former general manager of the Personal Systems Group, has been named the new managing director. Bullock has worked for 22 years at Big Blue, in senior sales, business development and marketing positions. He has considerable experience in managing channel relationships, particularly considering his position in the personal systems group.
Former MD Thodey quit IBM to join Telstra as group managing director of its wireless division, Telstar OnAir. In an open letter to IBM staff, Thodey explained his new position will be beneficial to IBM as he will foster a closer working relationship between the vendor and the telco.
"This has not been an easy decision for me as I have had 22 tremendous years at IBM," he said. "However when the opportunity presented itself to join an Australian company in an area in which I have a special interest, I had to consider it."
