NEC has announced the release of its latest addition to the Versa family of notebooks, the slim yet powerful NEC Versa S260. Weighing less than two kilos, it still packs a punch with a Mobile Pentium III Processor running at 1.2GHz and SpeedStep technology to conserve ever-important battery life. Other battery-saving enhancements include an additional battery to replace the hot-swappable CD-R/DVD drive, and a further battery that clips beneath the S260. Aside from a full-size keyboard and GlidePad with a scroll key - for easier Web surfing - the S260 includes three USB 2.0 ports, two FireWire ports, and a range of multimedia connectivity options. The device also features an internal 56K modem and a 10/100 Ethernet port. The S260 ships with Windows XP as standard, along with Norton Antivirus 2002, Video Wave 4 SE and PhotoSuite 4 SE.
It retails for $4,199.
